Major towns and cities plan rallies tonight as part of global protest movement
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP’S BAN on Syrian refugees and citizens and duel citizens from seven Muslim nations has caused protest, outrage, and a backlash across the globe.
The executive order, which came into force over the weekend, has led to the anti-racism movement in Scotland calling rallies across the country’s major cities.
The events follow direct action and taxi cab strikes at United States airports over the draconian measures, which target nations and spurious security groups.
Organisers ‘Scotland Against Trump’ state its events are “in solidarity with US protests against the racist and xenophobic ban on Muslims announced by Trump”, adding that the gathering will highlight support for refugee rights, and opposition to a planned state visit of Trump to the UK later this year.
The seven countries from which dual nationals and refugees are restricted from entering the US are Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia – despite there being zero attacks on US soil linked to nationals from these countries.
