Voluntary Health Scotland produced a report back in November 2018 exploring loneliness and social isolation amongst Scotland’s under-represented demographics (BAME, people living in a socio-economically deprived area, people living and working in rural communities, and paid and unpaid carers of people receiving palliative care). With the lockdown now exacerbating people’s sense of loneliness, we spoke to VHS about the impact of the Covid-19 crisis on the health and wellbeing of these marginalised groups, and the potential for a longterm public health crisis quite apart from that caused by the virus.
