The UK Government will stumble ahead with Brexit after the Lords backed down on amendments giving parliament a say on the final deal with the EU, and protecting the rights of EU nationals living in the UK. However, Prime Minister Theresa May now faces a crisis of legitimacy in her bid to negotiate on behalf of the whole UK, with First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s announcement of a referendum on Scottish independence.

The Netherlands goes to the polls today in another test for the new far right nationalism sweeping parts of the western world. Geert Wilders’ far-right Freedom Party has slipped back in recent polls, with the Dutch Greens rising, but the weakness of the political centre makes some form of coalition government inevitable.

Your guess is as good as mine folks
Project fear two isn’t getting off to a good start. As far as I understand it a generation is about 25 years? But is the Scottish Labour leader poking fun at the ‘once in a generation’ claim? If so this still makes no sense, there’ll be four to four and a half years between 2014 indyref and 2018-19 ScotRef? Give us a hand.
