Scottish Labour business manager James Kelly spoke to CommonSpace about a broad range of issues affecting local government at the party’s national conference in Perth
THE SCOTTISH LABOUR PARTY geared up for this May’s local government elections at its party conference in Perth at the weekend.
The issue was on the agenda on Sunday afternoon – straight after UK Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn’s speech – and delegates were introduced to council candidates.
The party’s business manager, James Kelly MSP, spoke to CommonSpace reporter David Thomson at the conference ahead of the 2017 elections.
Issues raised include scrapping the council tax in Scotland, local tourism tax and a land value tax.
