The Scottish Government will be opening applications to those with children under 6 as of Monday 9 November:
“I encourage all parents and carers who may be eligible to apply now and am asking families to help us by getting their applications in early so that we can process and start making payments as quickly as possible once the benefit starts in February next year.” – Social Security Secretary Shirley-Anne Somerville.
“Children are being plunged into poverty by a badly broken system. If there was ever a time to fix it, it’s now.” – Director of One Parent Families Scotland Satwat Rehman.
