Hundreds of asylum seekers in Glasgow were given less than an hour’s notice to pack up their things and move out of flats into hotels, where they claim social distancing is “impossible”. The private housing provider Mears, which replaced Serco as being responsible for the Home Office sub-contract, has moved more than 300 people from mainly self-contained apartments into hotels over the past 10 days. All financial support has been withdrawn, apparently because the hotel provides meals and laundry services. (The Guardian)
