Refugee activists have called for an independent inquiry into the decision to move asylum seekers from their flats to hotels in Glasgow during the Covid-19 pandemic, after a 30-year-old Syrian man died suddenly at a guest house. Adnan died on 5 May after he had been moved by Mears Group, which took over the contract for housing asylum seekers in Glasgow from Serco last year, from a flat where he was living alone to McLay’s Guest House.
