Kate Forbes, Scottish Finance Minister, has back tracked on the Scottish Government’s bespoke approach to small business support. Forbes had initially defended the Scottish Government’s approach of offering grants up to £25,000 per business, rather than per site a business operates on as in England, because she said it offered support to a wider range of businesses. But yesterday she announced an additional £120 million to extend the scheme so it now looks similar to south of the border, with awards worth 75 per cent for other sites a company trades on.
