Fresh doubts have been cast over Edinburgh’s tram extension, after Transport of Edinburgh, which owns 91 per cent of Lothian Buses and 100 per cent of Edinburgh Trams, decided not to pay out a dividend to shareholders. The dividend was set to contribute to the £207 million plan to extend the tram line from the city centre to Newhaven. Both Lothian Buses and Edinburgh Trams have seen 80 per cent falls in passenger numbers since the Covid-19 crisis began. (The Times)
