More than 100 academics, politicians and human rights activists have called on the Spanish and French governments to release vulnerable Basque political prisoners, who families fear are at risk from Covid-19. Former Scottish Justice Secretary, Kenny MacAskill MP is one of the signatories. Prisoners in the now defunct armed independence group ETA are spread across Spain and France, with 59 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Spain and 38 in France.
