NHS Scotland Chief Executive and director general of Health and Social Care Malcolm Wright has resigned for health reasons. The Scottish Government is splitting the role into two as an interim arrangement until the end of August. Elinor Mitchell, Director for community health and social care, as been appointed as director general, while John Connaghan, NHS Scotland chief performance officer, has been appointed as interim chief exec.
