First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has been urged to back a suspension of whisky production, after the Scotch Whisky Association, an industry body, made it clear that it wanted to keep producing, despite government calls to stop all non-essential production. The GMB union said it was aware SWA had been lobbying government to stay open as long as possible, but that this was “completely contrary” to statements around stopping essential work. (Daily Record)
