New research has found that unpaid carers are having to take on an average of 78 per cent more work during lockdown, with more than half fearing they will suffer from burn-out. Carers Scotland conducted the survey, which found that two in five were providing more care because local services have been reduced or closed, with one in four taking on more care responsibilities because they fear their loved ones being in contact with paid care staff during the Covid-19 crisis. Carers Scotland are calling for a £5 million emergency fund to support unpaid carers. (The Herald)
