You can download this episode directly here.

This week, Head of Policy & Research Dr Craig Dalzell talks to Dr Keith Baker from Common Weal’s Energy Working Group on their proposals for a National Energy Company which would own our energy assets like our power generators and transmission lines and a Scottish Energy Development Agency which would act as a strategic co-ordinator for where new infrastructure could be built and how it could contribute to the better wellbeing of the people of Scotland.

They also discuss various papers produced by the Energy Working Group, all of which can be read here, and tease some future projects that they will be working on.

Finally, they discuss the upcoming SNP conference where a motion on the SEDA may be being debated. Common Weal would highly encourage any and all SNP members who are going to conference to consider voting for this motion.

You can read more about Dr Baker and his Energy Poverty Research Initiative here.

The Policy Podcast would like to discuss all of Common Weal’s policy papers in detail over the next several months so if there are any papers that you would like to see covered sooner rather than later, send your suggestions in to craig@common.scot
