Episode 2 of The Common Weal Policy Podcast.
Common Weal Campaigns Officer Jonathon Shafi and Head of Policy & Research Craig Dalzell discuss more about the Sustainable Growth Commission’s approach to currency in an independent Scotland as well as their proposals to debt and liabilities in the form of their Annual Solidarity Payment.
They also discuss the newly launched Campaign for an Independent Currency which has submitted an amendment to the Growth Commission’s motion to conference and aims to ensure that an independent Scotland launches its own currency by the end of the first independent Parliament.
Finally, they discuss another motion at the SNP conference which aims to set up a Scottish Statistics Agency which may prove important given that Brexit could have dire implications for the state of UK statistics and the UK’s relationship with the EU’s Statistics Agency Eurostat.
