New polling released by Survation shows Labour down two points at Westminster

POLLING conducted by Survation on behalf of the Daily Record has shown support for the Conservatives falter as it predicts the SNP could gain a further nine seats at Westminster.

The poll predicted the Conservative vote share could slide from 28.6 to 24.2 per cent, losing Ruth Davidson five seats to the SNP, who gained two points in the poll. Support for Labour dropped two points and would lose four seats if the results were repeated at the ballot box in a future Westminster election in Scotland.

Elsewhere in the poll, support for Scottish Independence grew slightly on the 2014 vote, with 46 per cent of the 1000 respondents saying they would vote Yes, and 54 per cent No.

The poll also showed growing support for the EU, with 66 per cent saying they would vote to remain, up from the 62 per cent who backed remain in the 2016 referendum

Support for the SNP at Holyrood also grew, with 42 per cent of respondents saying they would vote for the party in the constituency ballot and 33 per cent in the list ballot, giving the party a convincing 17 point lead over other parties.

“This poll shows the SNP with a 17-point lead after more than a decade in office – that is an extraordinary endorsement of our record from the people of Scotland.” John Swinney

Commenting, Deputy First Minister John Swinney MSP said that the polling was an endorsement of the SNP’s decade in office: “This poll shows the SNP with a 17-point lead after more than a decade in office – that is an extraordinary endorsement of our record from the people of Scotland.

“On the biggest political challenge facing the country, we are the only party speaking up for businesses, for families and for Scotland’s economy by standing firm against a hard Tory Brexit.

“For all their talk, it’s clear the Tory revival just hasn’t materialised.

“The SNP will never take our support for granted, and we’ll continue to work hard for our constituents at Holyrood and at Westminster, delivering the very best for Scotland.”
