New series with Independence Live continues

IN this week's instalment of our new series offering readers an insight into the CommonSpace newsroom we catch up with our four work experience placements and legal eagle Nick Brady, Angela Haggerty chats all things CommonSocial, and Indy Live's Kevin Gibney chats to special guest Dr Mark McNaught, assistant professor of law, philosophy, and US civilization at the University of Rennes.

It’s now week seven for our work experience cadre, who have come such a long way in that short time. Nick Brady, who is with us on a legal placement through Scottish Pen, talks about the defamation and contempt of court training he’s been working on for us. Editor Angela Haggerty shows off our new social network CommonSocial, which has been keeping us busy this week. David Jamieson goes over his coverage of this year’s Pride in Glasgow and his work reporting on the Tie Campaign, and we’re also joined in the office by Dr Mark McNaught, who got chatting to Kevin Gibney about his new venture, Demos Scotland, and crowdsourcing a Scottish constitution.

Through this feature, we hope to give you an insight into how we make decisions at CommonSpace and how reporters approach their work. We also hope it will encourage our readers to get in touch with us with any feedback, suggestions, ideas or even contacts that they might have for stories we're working on.
